Responsibilities:
-Create Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS) and/or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages to Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) data from transaction systems into the reporting environment
-Create ad hoc queries to support business decisions
-Support and maintenance of existing and new data base environments
-Perform complete and knowledge unit testing of the database development code and artifacts
-Prepares and maintains complete programming specifications, functional design, and both high and detail level technical design documents
-Conducts peer code and security code reviews
-Create deployment scripts
-Performs troubleshooting and analysis to assess root cause of reporting and data warehouse issues
-Creates test data for use in testing in dev and qa environments and follows a system for the creation, loading, maintenance and replay of that test data
-Maintains a high degree of knowledge on current technologies and tools, such as Red Gate
-Makes recommendations to improve operating efficiency and functionality of assigned systems areas
Qualifications:
- 4+ years overall software and/or application development experience performing data analyst and database engineering tasks
-3+ years experience with knowledge of T-SQL and Stored Procedures, Data Transformation Services (DTS) using Microsoft SQL Server
-3+ years experience with managing large volumes of data, extraction of data from SQL Server tables
-Understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of decision support system design (ETL, Architecture, Metadata, Data Access, etc.)
-Experience with SSIS, creating and maintaining SSIS driven data processing requirements
-Ability to work well in a team environment and brainstorm with other developers/senior developers or engineers on ideas, work flow and technologies
-Strong technical, logical, analytical, and problem solving skills
-Strong communication / technical writing skills
-Experience in Agile software lifecycles, such as SCRUM with experience with Scrum teams, sprinting and execution upon deliverables
-Able to follow directions and execute to task completion according to expectations, within the specified time frame, following prescribed patterns and practices for development and testing
-Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop cohesive working relationships with team members, stakeholders and business owners, where applicable
-Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a highly energized and fast-paced environment within a framework of constantly shifting deadlines and deliverables
-Flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable
-B.S. degree in Computer Science or related field
Desired Skills:
- Banking and/or credit/debit card systems (stored value systems) experience systems a plus
-Knowledge of new database technologies a plus
-Experience with real time transaction or messaging processing systems
-Experience in SQL Server 2008, 2012
-Microsoft SQL Certification a plus
