Job Summary:
Database Engineeris assigned to provide technical and database support for the Beijing office’s research and consulting activities. The Database Engineer carries out work related to development, transfer and verification, security, integrity, manipulation and maintenance of consulting databases. The Database Engineer interacts with consulting colleagues, collaborators and IT staff to ensure the overall quality of the database content and functionality on an ongoing basis and to provide data extracts and other support for research and consulting projects. The Database Developer coordinates with IT staff to ensure the optimal use of hardware and software for scientific and statistical computing and will provide input to IT and consulting staff to optimize such purchases.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in big data or data warehouse projects and be familiar with modern data warehouse technologies.
Proficient in:
o    SQL development and major relational database management systems and languages such as SQL Server (Transact-SQL) or Oracle (PL/SQL)
o    Unix (AIX/Solaris/HP-UX) /Linux operating system
o    At least one scripting language such as python orperl., etc.
o    Big data development tools such as Hive, Pig, etc.
o    Java development and experienced in related basic knowledge such as IO mechanism, multithreading, and network communication
Experience in:
o    Database “extract transform and load” (”ETL”) processes
o    Statistical computing software such as SAS or R
o    OLAP analysis and data warehouse modeling
o    Mechanism such as cache, message queue, index query, etc.
o    Design, development,and maintenance of complicated databases, able to find creative solutions
Familiarity with:
o    Electronic patient records
o    Data security policies and protection technologies, such as encryption
o    All, or most, common large database systems.
o    Hadoop MapReduce application development
