Job Summary

The Technical Lead will be responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of a software development project. He or she will be required to mentor new Developers on J2EE technologies and development best practices.  The Technical Lead works with all Developers to ensure the optimum technical solution is utilized in the development of new and existing applications.  He or she also reviews and contributes to design, deliverables, enforces coding and design standards, and provides technical support for the team. This individual should have extensive J2EE, Web, Web services, and Java experience, as well as a working knowledge of UNIX (Linux) and Windows operating systems.

This individual will coordinate and communicate with USA and Aaxis China Project Managers and Technical Architects.   He or she must also be able to build and manage these relationships to establish a high level of confidence and trust in their leadership and decisions.  This person must be a self-starter and require minimal supervision.  He or she must be able to lead multiple efforts at the same time and balance competing priorities.

Essential Job Functions

§    Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) for all assigned projects

§    Plan, design, implement, and support efficient and cost effective solutions in building or maintaining software application

§    Perform 'hands-on' implementation work and will work in close liaison with Support and Quality Testing departments

§    Must be able to analyze/translate technical specifications into effective technical solutions and perform program/database design activities

§    Produce structured, commented programming code based on the documented requirements

§    Authors source code, source comments and project documents in English

§    Prepare and maintain system documentation and follows proper naming conventions

§    Review design and code produced by members of the engineering team

§    Review and edit all documentation produced by junior team members

§    Conduct feasibility studies for new projects

§    Develop test plans, perform unit testing, and integrated testing for developed software

§    Participate in issue resolution and change control processes

§    Work closely with the other teams within the Software Engineering organization to achieve effective end result

§    Solve technical problems or recommend alternative solutions to team members and project leaders

§    Participate in researching and recommending best practices for the monitoring, support, maintenance, and implementation of software applications

§    Work on technically complex projects within the technology sets mentioned above, with minimal guidance

§    May indirectly supervise staff on a project or event basis

§    May manage small to medium-sized software development projects

§    Coordinate and communicate status of technical solutions with all other groups

§    Ensure development is performed to the defined specifications

§    Possess the following traits: resourceful, productive, initiative, professionalism, customer service attitude, attention to details and product quality, ability to multi-task, team focus, strong interpersonal skills, and strong verbal and written communication skills

§    Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

§    Self-motivated in learning new technologies and implementing quality software components

§    Commitment to project quality and on-time delivery

§    Whenever necessary, must be willing to work on weekends and after-hours to achieve important project deadlines

§    Familiarity or experience with software project management

§    Provide coaching and mentoring to team members

§    Possess excellent business ethics and professionalism

§    Encourage creativity and forward-thinking suggestions

§    Provide timely feedback on matters relating to team performance

Minimum Requirements

§    Four-year degree in a technical area or equivalent experience

§    Minimum of 5-year experience in J2EE with an overall 6 years of industry experience

§    Minimum of 4-year experience in designing and developing multi-tier software applications

§    Good English communication skills: written and verbal.  Must be able to pass CET Level 4 or above

§    Excellent Chinese Mandarin communication skills: written and verbal

§    Experience with Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD).  This includes good understanding the Unified Modeling Language (UML)

§    Exposure to development methodologies: Rational Unified Process and Xtreme Programming

§    Mastery of J2EE technologies: EJB, JSP, Servlet, JNDI, JMS, JAXP and JDBC

§    Mastery of Web Technologies: JavaScript, JAXP, CSS and HTML

§    In-depth experience in utilizing open source toolkits: Struts, Hibernate, Log4J, Axis Web Services, Xerces, Xalan, Ant and Spring

§    Experience with one of the following application servers: JBoss, BEA WebLogic, IBM WebSphere

§    Working knowledge of UNIX(Linux) and Windows operating systems

§    Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities

§    Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

§    Experience with full lifecycle of software development projects from establishing requirements
through delivery and production

§    Experience in building scalable, mission-critical applications

§    Experience in leading software development teams
