Senior Java UI developer

Translating product requirements into highly usable interface design

Requirements:

The ideal candidate must have 7+ years of development experience, with a strong focus on user interface development. The candidate will have a deep knowledge of Java GUI technologies such as Swing, SWT, AWT and Java 2D. The candidate should be able to create GUI interface without help of visual graphic designers. Beside desktop GUI design skills, any Web UI design experience (HTML, JavaScript & CSS) will be a big plus. The candidate should feel comfortable creating their own UI components when off the shelf components are not available, and should be eager to help design a new look and feel for our products. Candidate should realize their interface will likely not have the benefit of a graphic designer, so must have an eye for design & layout, and an attention to detail. Working knowledge of graphic design tools such as Photoshop, Fireworks, etc are recommended but not expected to be an expert.

* BS/MS in Computer Science, HCI, or a related area
* Minimum 3 years of Rich-client user interface development (Java Swing/SWT/etc)
* Experience using Photoshop / Fireworks / etc as part of user interface development
* Experience in the full life cycle of software development; requirements analysis, design, development, testing, implementation
* Actual success at building a product that made it to a production deployment which is/was used and sustained.
* Experience with the following considered a plus: Maven, JBoss, Eclipse, Java Web Start, Oracle 10g, Spring, Hibernate, Groovy, Grails, Web Services, REST
