Position2: Performance/Capacity Analyst (for servers)
Performance:  
Problem Source Isolation - using knowledge of hardware, O/S, and application to assist in the resolution of performance issues. Focus is on collection and analysis of system metrics for indicators of issues. Data analysis is conducted on both a reactive and proactive basis.
Performance modeling – Using both simulation and analytical models to project performance. Measurements can be in the form of both throughput or response times.
Capacity:  
Use existing data store to baseline current capacity and produce models for future capacity requirements.
Data collection :  
Maintain the current environment of data collection primarily consisting of BMC performance assurance for UNIX and an internal developed Iintel collector based on the perfmon API. Process also requires producing and maintaining various scripts that query and reformat data from multiple sources for storing in our data store
General Skill sets: Excellent problem solving skills; focus and drive to follow all threads to resolve an issue; ability to work with others in a group environment is very important the team interacts with other IT groups, developers, business, and occasionally customers ; good communication skills and the ability to explain difficult subject matter to non-technical business units. Being able to communicate effectively with both technical and business staff is valuable.
Technical skills: Strong Unix ( Solaris, AIX) and or Intel admin skills, strong problem solving skills, Base SAS, SAS ITRM, and BMC performance assurance for UNIX helpful.                    
Educational background: studies in one of the following preferred computer science, engineering, mathematics

Position3: Performance/Capacity Analyst (for network)
Performance:  
Navigate Predominantly Cisco network environment with focus on router/switch configuration and end-to-end performance for the MPLS WAN and Ethernet LAN/MAN networks.  Study traffic patterns across all MAN/WAN links to ensure proper functionality and timely sizing.  Studies consist of overall bandwidth usage as well protocol breakdowns and subnet usage studies by business areas and ip addresses.  Understanding of current Corporate architecture is key to troubleshooting, maintain and maneuver this very large environment.  Troubleshooting consists of viewing and understanding router/switch configurations to recognize potential network issues.  Maintenance consists of reviewing and understanding daily exceptions with and eye toward understanding the route cause and communicating that information back to the appropriate networking groups.  Maneuvering consists of knowing ip addressing schemes and more importantly connectivity currently in place throughout the State Street Global networks.
Capacity:  
Sizing of MPLS and MAN/LAN links consists of understanding the network requirements of scores of Corporate applications and protocols including but not limited to such applications as:  mch, http, ftp, citrix, mail, NetBIOS, and sql.
Application performance:  
Because all applications are different from an ip (internet protocol) perspective, a good understanding of ip and the IP stack is paramount to grasp application performance.  Experience with packet capture analysis is key to resolve many application issues.  Experience with sniffer, ethereal or OPNET Itguru would be very helpful.
